The FBI released 100 new pages of materials from its investigation of Democrat presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server during her secretary of state.
According to The Hill, the pages review the FBI’s investigation process into her “mishandling of classified information.”
The FBI came under a lot of fire after Director James Comey announced in July he would not recommend criminal charges or Hillary Clinton. Instead, Comey simply dismissed her misconduct as a mistake.
However, the investigation papers reveal the troubling truth about Clinton’s misconduct.
For example, during her time as secretary of state, Hillary Clinton had 11 Blackberry mobile phones, all of which had email accounts connected to them. The FBI noted that in the report, but disregarded it.
Comey infamously stated that Clinton and her aides were extremely careless in their handling of the classified information.
Now, Republicans hope that the 100 new pages of information give some insight into the FBI’s decision not to press charges. Perhaps the pages may even reveal a double standard in favor of Clinton.
The FBI has stated that the pages also contain a summary of Clinton’s interview with the federal agency.
It’s possible that the information could also lead to a new investigation. House Oversight Committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, said there could be at least four hearings on the material later this fall.
However, Hillary Clinton currently leads GOP rival Donald Trump in some polls and it is not clear what would happen if she were elected president before the hearings on the new documents could be held.
With the presidential election at state, the FBI should be working much harder to bring the truth to the American people.
