Nadia Murad was once a sex slave for ISIS. She escaped but had this to say.
“I was freed but I do not enjoy the feeling of the freedom because those who committed the crimes were not held accountable.”
Murad, now 21, was only 19 when she was kidnapped by ISIS. Murad claimed to Congress that minorities like Christians, if not protected, will be wiped out.
Murad also said the U.S. could expect further atrocities such as the attack in Orlando while the ISIS ideology continues to exist. With the genocide designations, Murad called on the senate to take ISIS to the international criminal court.
A UN report released last week estimated that ISIS holds about 3,500 slave. The report said ISIS’ actions “may, in some instances, amount to war crimes, crimes against humanity, and possibly genocide.”
