Business in the House was put to an early halt last week when Democrats staged a sit-in to force a vote on gun control measures. In the wake of the Orlando massacre by radical Muslim, Omar Mateen, Democrats want stricter measures in their fight against the Second Amendment. One piece of legislation that the Dems are so eager to pass concerns people on the no-fly list. They want to make sure that if you are on the list, you cannot buy a gun.
Rep. John Lewis, a Democrat with a long history of civil disobedience, led the way by inviting all of his colleagues to join him on the floor. Ironically enough, Lewis is on the no-fly watch list. According to Lewis’ office, he has been held up 35 to 40 times by TSA throughout the year. Efforts to remove him from the watch list have been unsuccessful.
Independent Journal reports:
The House floor proceedings were brought to a grinding halt Wednesday when dozens of Democratic members staged a sit-in to bring gun control legislation to a vote.
Some of the legislation that the group is trying to put to a vote includes a “no fly, no buy” measure, which would prevent Americans on the government’s terrorist watch lists from purchasing guns.
Leading the way in the effort is Rep. John Lewis, who has participated in civil disobedience since the days of Martin Luther King Jr.
Several have brought up Lewis’ history with the government’s airline watch list. His name appears to have been flagged by the TSA, and he has been stopped by TSA dozens of times.
