Drudge Report: Asks if Obama’s Executive Order is Martial Law
I found this story while browsing WND. Obama has signed an executive order called the “National Defense Resources Preparedness”.
For the full text of the lengthy Executive Order, head over to Whitehouse.gov.
The EO was signed on March 16, 2012.
It is full of language about “government-owned equipment” and “defense executive reserve”. Some are saying that those are code words for nationalization and a civilian draft.
The Canada Free Press wrote a response called “Obama Executive Order: Peacetime Martial Law!”.
This allows for the giving away of USA assets and subsidies to private companies: provide for the modification or expansion of privately owned facilities.
Examiner.com wrote an article entitled “Obama Executive Order would seize US infrastructure, citizens for nat’l defense”.
And from Current.com:
“The National Defense Resources Preparedness Executive Order exploits the “authority” granted to the President in the Defense Production Act of 1950 in order to assert that virtually every means of human survival is now available for confiscation and control by the President via his and his Secretaries’ whim,” Current notes.
But others are saying this is much ado about nothing. HotAir.com says this EO is just an update of an existing EO signed into law by Bill Clinton.
This might be just a revision of a previously signed executive order but does not necessarily mean that it is safe. Instead of saying this is just a revision of what is on the books, I would want someone to clearly deny that the claims being made by the links above could never happen.
